“That’s just their dynamic—one willing to give, the other willing to accept,” Ben said with a chuckle.
It was true. Tim had no chance against Lilian—he couldn’t win in a fight, couldn’t out-argue her, and if he pushed too far, she could always resort to her medical expertise to teach him a lesson. A subtle dose of something unpleasant was usually enough to make him surrender.
And yet, he had been the one who pursued her relentlessly.
Lilian hadn’t even wanted to marry him at first. All she’d wanted was a child to carry on the old doctor’s legacy. But Tim refused to give up. He chased her, pleaded with her, and persisted until she finally agreed to marry him.

Still, their marriage was a happy one. Tim adored Lilian just as much as Ben adored Jane, and despite all her threats, Lilian loved him deeply too. Most of the time, she only needed to scare him a little—he’d fall in line immediately.
