In the old days, most of a family’s property was inherited by the eldest son. The eldest son received the majority of the family’s wealth, and his descendants naturally enjoyed a better life, while the other branches often depended on them for their livelihood.
As the family business grew and the number of family members increased, rules had to be established to manage everyone properly.
That was how the clan rules came into existence.
The direct line was essentially descended from the eldest son’s branch.
