Winnie said, “Mom, I don’t like wearing skirts. They’re too inconvenient.”
She glanced at her grandfather and complained, “Grandpa, you know perfectly well that I don’t like wearing evening gowns, yet you still had President Brown bring one over. And this set of jewelry makes me look like a nouveau riche.”
“I’d rather be comfortable and keep things simple. Don’t make me wear these again next time.”
Chairman Francoeur said, “You don’t look like a nouveau riche at all. You have an excellent temperament. Jewelry only makes you look more elegant. Your outfit tonight makes you look more feminine. Your mother is right. A girl should look like a girl.”
Then he turned to Sonny and asked, “Mr. Brown, do you think Winnie looks better in a suit or a dress?”
Sonny replied, “I think Miss Winnie is beautiful and looks good in anything.
“Actually, you don’t need to worry about what other people think. You know whether an outfit suits you and whether it’s comfortable. As long as you’re comfortable, who cares what anyone else says?”
