“We’re relieved that the old man is handling Winnie’s marriage. He has excellent judgment. Still, we need to find out more about Mr. Brown.
“Just because the York family in Wiltspoon is doing well doesn’t mean he’s necessarily a good person. Some people are two-faced. We won’t bother anyone. We’ll quietly investigate him ourselves.”
Yima said, “My father-in-law will take care of that. He cherishes Winnie like the apple of his eye. This concerns Winnie’s entire life, so he won’t be careless. He’s much more experienced than we are, and I believe the person he chooses will truly be outstanding.”
Emmett’s wife said, “That’s true. Then let’s not worry about it. Drive carefully. We asked you to stay for dinner, but you’re in a hurry to get back.
“The old man isn’t feeling well, so you should go home and check on him.”
She nodded again and gave Yima a few more instructions. Then she watched her sister-in-law get into her car and drive away before turning back toward the house.
