After a long silence, Jennifer finally spoke with difficulty. “Mother Jane, Master… after the young master gets married, I’ll only accompany him when necessary. Once we arrive somewhere, I’ll stay out of sight and keep my distance. If the future young mistress understands my identity and role, then… she shouldn’t misunderstand anymore, right?”
“Jennifer,” Jane asked gently, “what do you really think of Titus? Forget your loyalty to him for a moment. From a woman’s perspective, do you think he’s someone worth spending a lifetime with?”
Jane motioned for Lilian not to push Jennifer any further, afraid they might overwhelm her.
“The young master is wonderful,” Jennifer answered honestly. “No matter how I look at him, he’s a good man. He’s someone a woman could trust with her whole life.”
