“In Havenmill, the only person Timothy and old Mr. Labbe would truly consider is you,” Jennifer went on. “But you’re their enemy. There’s no chance of that happening.”
Titus had long been identified by them as the lost heir from thirty years ago. If anything, they wanted him eliminated—not allied through marriage.
“Renata doesn’t have real feelings for you either,” Jennifer added flatly.
The Ormond family of Annenburg, however, was another matter entirely. They stood at the pinnacle—powerful, influential, and far beyond the reach of most.
Timothy’s father had once tried to arrange a marriage alliance with them, but it had ended in failure. Still, that didn’t stop their ambition. If they couldn’t control such power, they would settle for connecting themselves to it.
“The current head of the Ormond family is effectively Alonzo,” Jennifer said. “Elora may still hold the title, but she’s already handed control over to him.”
Titus nodded slightly, impressed.
