“I actually have things to do here,” Belle said. “At my family company, I’m basically just a mascot—getting paid without doing any real work.”
And not just a small paycheck.
On top of her salary, both her brother and cousin gave her daily spending money—and that alone was more than what she earned from work.
Money had never been an issue for her.
Avah nodded. “I’ve already spoken to your supervisor. If you keep up your current efficiency, they’ll give you more responsibilities. You won’t be sitting around doing nothing.”
Walking behind them, Jane immediately chimed in, “Avah, don’t overwork Belle. She’s only here to learn.”
“It’s fine, Aunt Jane,” Belle said with a smile. “I can handle the workload. I just want to stay busy and keep learning.”
