Chapter 4965
Zachary immediately tensed. “Grandma, what happened? Are you feeling unwell? You shouldn’t keep visiting Alex’s place like that. He doesn’t have many people around him. He can’t take care of you like we do.”
The old lady huffed. “This has nothing to do with Alex. Don’t throw blame around. I raised you boys myself—I know your personalities better than anyone. You’re all capable and attentive. None of you would ever neglect me.”
She added, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. I just want a checkup. Alex will go with me, and I’ll ask Dr. Pollock to help with the forms.”
“…Grandma,” Zachary sighed, “you just had a full checkup two months ago.”
Every two weeks a family doctor came to see her, and Dr. Carden would drop by whenever she had time. Her health was excellent. Dr. Carden had come to Wiltspoon mostly to escape her mentor nagging her about a second child—and her overly clingy toddler. In Wiltspoon, she was eating well, relaxing, laughing with friends—basically living her best life.
The old lady frowned. “I can get checked every month if I want. I want to live long enough to see my great-grandchildren grow up—another ten years at least. Is that a crime?”
