Alex continued, “Dr. Pollock’s place in Wordisk Garden is already finished, but she hasn’t officially moved in yet.”
The old lady’s expression softened. “Oh, that explains it. Dr. Pollock, no wonder I didn’t recognize you earlier. So you’re Alex’s new neighbor? You live on Wordisk Street?”
“Yes,” Aitana said with a gentle smile. “My grandparents built the house there years ago. Our whole family lived together back then. Later, my parents bought another home, but I still prefer staying here. It’s lively, and it’s where I grew up.”
Her voice carried a hint of nostalgia.
“I bought this place in Wordisk Garden so I can be close to my old home,” she added. “That way, I can go back often for meals.”
With her busy hospital schedule, Aitana rarely had time to cook. Eating takeout every day wasn’t healthy, so being close to family meant she could enjoy fresh, homemade food again.
