“That won’t do,” Alex insisted, laughing. “You’ve helped me so much. If I don’t treat you to a few meals, I’ll feel like I owe you big time.”
Aitana joked, “Then when your renovations are done, treat Master Tangy and his team to a meal—and invite me too. You don’t have to treat me separately. Usually, when people renovate, they treat the workers to a meal on the first day, maybe again midway, and once more when the project’s complete.”
That was exactly what she had done herself.
Alex nodded. “Of course. Alright, Aitana, go have your breakfast. I’d better head back and cook for Grandma.”
By now, the old lady was probably done with her morning martial arts practice.
Aitana nodded, waved goodbye, and turned toward the clinic. Alex waited until she went inside before leaving.
Ten minutes later, he was back home. After changing clothes, he tied on an apron and began making breakfast.
