Zachary looked down at the little girl peacefully sleeping in his arms. Belle—the daughter the York family had waited generations for. Everyone doted on her.
“My heart just melts when I look at Belle,” he said softly. “I can’t help it. But I promise, I’ll be better to our son too. Belle has plenty of people who love her.”
In the York family, it was true—daughters were adored more than sons.
“When I asked Baby about this, he didn’t say I was playing favorites. But clearly, he told you that I treat his sister better.”
Serenity gave him a knowing look. “That’s because you’re the one who always plays the bad cop.”
Zachary grinned. “Exactly. I’ve always been the strict one. So, of course, I’m the serious one too. But what about you? Are you tired? You’ve been on a plane for hours with two kids. Why don’t you lean on me and rest for a bit?”
