Jennifer said calmly, “It’s good that you’ve made your decision, Young Master. I’m just your bodyguard—my responsibility is your safety. I don’t interfere in anything else.”
Landen looked at her for a moment, as if he wanted to say something. In the end, he didn’t. He simply sighed and returned to his work.
Once Landen focused, Jennifer no longer needed to keep watch inside. She stepped out of the CEO’s office but stayed nearby, settling into a seat outside. Picking up a few magazines, she flipped through them casually to pass the time.
The secretary brought her a glass of warm water. “Sister Jennifer, here.”
Jennifer gave a slight nod.
Landen’s secretary was a man a couple of years younger than both of them. He had worked under Landen for several years and had earned his trust.
Everyone at Lonen Group knew that while Jennifer was officially just a bodyguard, she wasn’t ordinary. She and Landen had grown up together—eighteen years of shared history. The way Landen treated her made it clear she was different, someone no one dared underestimate.
