Jane sighed. “We can’t make decisions about marriage for them anymore. Let them decide for themselves. I’m not too old to keep working, so I’ll work a few more years before retiring. Then we old folks can travel around while we’re still able to walk.”
When she was younger, she never had time to travel because of work. Once she retired and no longer had to worry about her children, she planned to go wherever she wanted.
Just like her biological parents.
They had left the entire Lafayette family business to her brother to manage, while they spent their time traveling around the world. They only returned home once or twice a year, living a carefree and enjoyable life.
Iris nodded. “Then it’s settled. Let me know when you go back to your parents’ house, and I’ll go with you.”
“Okay,” Jane replied. “I’ll call my Third Aunt first and ask her to stay home that day. Otherwise, she might go visit my cousin’s house and we’ll miss her.”
Jane’s Third Aunt often stayed at her daughter’s home, so when Jane visited her parents’ place, she sometimes didn’t get to see her.
