The shop manager smiled. “We’re just wiping the tables. It’s still early—no customers yet. I’ll make you some coffee.”
The two bosses often stopped by for coffee, and the manager knew their preferences well. Whenever she saw them, she personally brewed their drinks.
“Thank you for the trouble,” Jane said politely.
“President Jane, please don’t say that. It’s my duty.”
Both women were approachable. Even after marrying into powerful families, they never put on airs. They treated longtime employees like friends and family.
After the manager left, the two women chatted—first about business, then about their children.
