Alex stared at Rowan for a long moment, then patted him on the shoulder.
“Rowan, I understand. I’ve felt the same way before.”
He sighed softly. “What can we do when our older brothers are all so outstanding?”
Moreover, those older brothers had entered the business world earlier, when the market environment was far more forgiving than it was now.
Rowan nodded. “Exactly. My brothers are too outstanding. The pressure is enormous.”
He continued bitterly, “Everyone thinks I’m the youngest and spoiled, that even if I do nothing, I’ll still have endless money to spend. But no one knows how much pressure I’m under.”
“Everything I do gets compared to my brothers. It was the same at school. Many of my teachers had taught my brothers before me. If my grades slipped even slightly, people would say, ‘Your brothers are so outstanding—how could you be so stupid?’”
“That forced me to study even harder. Fortunately, I had some talent and my grades stayed excellent.”
