“But Brother Alex’s family is really nice,” the younger cousin added. “Whether it’s the elders or the younger generation, they’re all genuinely kind.”
Even though he was still in high school, he had a good eye for people. He could tell whether the York family was truly warm toward them, or merely being polite on the surface.
Estrella smiled. “That’s true. Alex is very approachable and easy to get along with.”
She then turned to Aitana. “Did Alex say anything to you?”
“He said a lot,” Aitana replied.
“I mean,” Estrella pressed gently, “did he confess his feelings to you?”
Aitana glanced at her aunt, then focused on the road. “Auntie, I’m driving. Please don’t scare me. Our lives are in my hands right now—let me drive in peace. Don’t say things that make me nervous.”
