Alex parked his car in the open-air lot.
When Aitana saw the children running over, she turned to Alex and said, “You didn’t tell me your nieces and nephews were here. I didn’t bring anything for them.”
Alex laughed. “You don’t need to bring gifts. They have everything already—more toys than a toy store. And I didn’t know they were coming either. When I left to pick you up, only Grandma was home. They probably came to visit her. Don’t worry, the kids won’t care about gifts.”
All they needed were playmates.
Hearing that, Aitana nodded. “Next time I’m off on a weekend and come visit Grandma York, I’ll definitely prepare something for them.”
“Uncle Alex!” Cairo, who arrived first, lifted his arms, clearly wanting to be picked up.
Alex bent down and scooped him into his arms.
