“Great-Grandma, where did you go?” Belle wrapped her arms around the old lady’s neck. “I haven’t seen you when I wake up these past two days.”
At night she looked for her mom; during the day, she searched for her great-grandmother.
“Great-Grandma had something to take care of, so she went out for a bit,” the old lady said gently. “But starting tomorrow, Belle will see Great-Grandma as soon as she wakes up. From now on, whenever Great-Grandma goes out, she’ll take Belle with her, okay? Great-Grandma won’t leave Belle home alone anymore.”
Belle pulled back slightly and stared at her, her tiny face serious. “Is what Great-Grandma said true?”
“When has Great-Grandma ever lied to you?” the old lady replied affectionately. “Great-Grandma loves you the most.”
Belle broke into a bright smile. “I love Great-Grandma the most!”
