Chapter 4993
“You’re going out to have fun, and what about me?” Second Uncle Pollock protested half-jokingly. “Are you just going to leave me home alone? I haven’t been to a chrysanthemum exhibition or on an autumn outing in years.”
He wasn’t exaggerating. The couple spent nearly every day tending to patients at their small clinic, year after year, with hardly any time for themselves.
Every now and then, they’d think about closing the clinic for a day to get some fresh air. But before they could even walk a few blocks, someone familiar would call—usually a patient needing help. They’d sigh, turn around, and head right back.
So in the end, they hadn’t traveled anywhere in years.
The only time they managed to take a short road trip was during the Lunar New Year—but the crowds were unbearable. Every tourist spot was packed shoulder to shoulder. The view was nothing but a sea of people’s heads.
It wasn’t relaxing at all; it was exhausting.
