Chapter 4969
While Zachary was taking Belle to Serenity’s company, Alex was accompanying his grandmother at the hospital, waiting for their number to be called.
The old lady had specifically registered under Dr. Aitana Pollock’s name. Even though she’d booked her appointment early, there were still several patients ahead, and the grandmother and grandson had been waiting for quite a while.
“Grandma, are you hungry?” Alex asked, his voice full of concern. “I thought your number would be called sooner. If I’d known it’d take this long, I might’ve shamelessly asked Aitana to squeeze you in earlier.”
The old lady shot him a sharp look. “What did I teach you, Alex? Have you forgotten everything already? I’m just here for a checkup—it’s not urgent. The number we got is the number we wait for. Why should we cut in line just because we know the doctor? Everyone’s here to see a doctor too, and they all have their turn. We shouldn’t take away someone else’s opportunity just because of connections.”
Her tone softened slightly, but her words carried her usual dignity. “I’m not hungry, and you don’t need to ask me every few minutes. If you keep saying that, I’ll have your brothers teach you some manners.”
Alex immediately lowered his head, looking guilty. “You’re right, Grandma. I was wrong. I was just worried about you. I promise I won’t say that again.”
