When Aitana came downstairs, she found the Nanny busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen. She stepped inside and greeted her politely.
“Heading out for your morning run?” the Nanny asked with a smile. “You young people have such great discipline. I just can’t keep up—I keep getting rounder by the day.”
Aitana glanced playfully at the woman’s waist. “Auntie, you’re just a little plump. If you watch your diet and exercise a bit, you’ll lose it easily. Morning runs are just a habit for us now. I’ll be out for about half an hour and then come back for breakfast.”
The Nanny chuckled. “Go ahead. Breakfast will be ready by the time you’re back. Doctor Pollock and his wife already went out for their morning exercise too.”
Aitana smiled as she walked out the door. “My second uncle and aunt just go to the park for a few laps and join the group dancing there. I take a different route—no square dancing for me.”
The Nanny laughed. That was how most older folks exercised.
While jogging through the neighborhood, Aitana unexpectedly ran into Alex again.
