Second Aunt Pollock glared at her husband. “How did I help Alex? Where exactly did you see me doing that?”
Second Uncle Pollock chuckled, raising his hands in surrender. “Alright, alright, you didn’t. Don’t look at me like you’re ready to kill me. Go to bed—you’ve got to get up early tomorrow.”
Their clinic opened at seven every morning, which meant they were up by six, taking a short walk around the neighborhood before breakfast and starting their day.
Second Aunt Pollock huffed. “Even if I did help Alex, it was for Aitana’s sake. That young man’s brilliant—he deserves our Aitana.”
Second Uncle Pollock smirked. “See? You’re admitting it yourself. You favor Alex, yet you told me not to favor Joaquin.”
“Fine, fine,” she said, waving him off. “Alex deserves our Aitana. Now go to bed.”
