Serenity laughed. “They’re having a great time together. Besides, Baby sometimes stays at your house too. I’m taking them to the Wiltspoon Supermarket later — it’s been a while since we went out. I don’t have any social plans tonight, so it’s a good time.”
Taking the kids out was her version of unwinding — a little break from her daily responsibilities.
Since marrying Zachary, even though he spoiled her endlessly and let her live however she pleased, she was still the eldest daughter-in-law and the wife of the family’s eldest grandson. Responsibilities came with that title, and it was impossible to live as freely as she had before marriage.
Whenever Serenity felt restless, she liked to go out for a walk — not to buy anything, just to stroll, to soak in the city lights and the hum of life, watching people come and go, feeling the rhythm of the bustling world.
“What time are you going?” Jasmine asked. “If I finish early, I’ll join you. We haven’t gone shopping together in forever.”
“After dinner,” Serenity said. “They need to finish their homework and practice piano first.”
“Alright,” Jasmine replied. “See you later then.”
