Second Aunt Pollock said, “Joaquin is a good man, but his family… that’s the problem. I don’t want Aitana to get married and end up supporting a whole household, becoming someone else’s ATM. If his relatives get sick or need to be hospitalized, it’ll all fall on Aitana—and on us.
That would create a lot of trouble for her, so I don’t support Joaquin. Alex, if you really like our Aitana, be bold and go after her. I have confidence in you.”
Alex grinned. “Thank you, Aunt Pollock, for thinking so highly of me. I will. And if there’s anything you need help with, please let me handle it.”
Second Aunt Pollock smiled. “No need, just go about your business. Check on your new house and come over for dinner tonight. Afterward, you can invite Aitana to watch a couple of movies. She hasn’t relaxed in ages.”
Alex hesitated. “I have to work as usual tomorrow. I’m afraid Dr. Pollock might refuse.”
He knew if he invited Aitana to the movies, she’d immediately understand what he meant by it.
Second Aunt Pollock waved him off. “What’s there to be afraid of if she refuses? Ask her a few more times—she’ll say yes eventually. Every man chasing his future wife gets rejected at first.”
