River added, “Later on, Sister Liberty remarried my eldest brother’s good friend, Duncan, and they had a daughter named Livia. The head of the Farrell family must be a direct-line daughter.”
Romina nodded. “I heard about that. Everyone did when the Farrell family in Jensburg changed patriarchs a few years ago.”
She never imagined she would actually meet those people one day.
“Will Sonny still go back to his biological father’s home?” she asked.
River hummed in acknowledgment, then said, “Sonny still visits, but he doesn’t stay long. He prefers being at our house. Hank used to be a jerk, but because he’s kind to Sonny and he’s Sonny’s father, we never badmouthed him in front of Sonny.”
Even Liberty refused to speak ill of her ex-husband in front of Sonny. Adults’ mistakes, she felt, should never be placed on a child’s shoulders.
No matter how flawed Hank was, he was still Sonny’s biological father.
