Aitana’s parents didn’t work at Wiltspoon’s hospital but at a large hospital in the provincial capital, so they rarely came home.
She also had an older brother who worked at a major hospital in another province, and he seldom came back either.
With her parents and brother away, her second uncle and aunt were her closest family. Her third uncle and aunt were equally busy and had no time to guide her little cousin’s studies.
Luckily, the Pollock children were all gifted academically and consistently excelled in school. Her little cousin was even considering medicine; when he had to choose a major in his first year of high school, he picked physics, chemistry, and biology to prepare for it.
Soon Uncle Pollock and his wife came upstairs for dinner. Aitana had already served their plates.
Because they were all in the medical field, the family ate lightly, avoiding too much oil or salt.
“Aitana, are you going to work soon?” Uncle Pollock asked while eating.
