Alex asked quickly, “Brother, you didn’t tell Grandma, did you? My injury’s almost healed now. It’s nothing serious. Don’t let her know.”
Kevin teased him. “So you know your injury’s almost healed, yet you’re still hanging around in the hospital? I wonder what your attending doctor must think of you.
“Of course, I didn’t tell Grandma. When she asked, I said you were away on a business trip and wouldn’t be back anytime soon—maybe ten days, half a month, even a couple of months. Hard to say.
“Grandma just complained that you didn’t even tell her you were going away and haven’t called her in such a long time. She misses you.”
That was just like their grandmother. If any of her grandsons didn’t come home for a while or stopped calling, she would worry and ask about them often.
All of them had grown up under her care. No matter how old they got, every grandson was still her treasure.
Alex sighed. “Then I’ll give her a call later—but no video. If she sees I’m in a hospital, she’ll figure it out right away. I thought since all the kids are home, Grandma wouldn’t notice I’ve been gone this long.”
