“We take turns with our days off,” one of the nurses explained. “If Dr. Pollock were on leave, she would’ve told you in advance so you wouldn’t miss her.”
Alex didn’t respond further.
As the nurse finished changing his bandages, she said, “Mr. York, your wounds are healing quickly. You could actually be discharged now and recover at home. You’d just need to come back regularly to change the dressings—or have a family member do it.”
It was nothing more than minor hand injuries, no broken bones. A long hospital stay wasn’t necessary.
