“Romina,” River asked gently, “when are you free? I want to take you back to meet my parents—and Grandma. She’s been wanting to meet you in person for a long time.”
Romina hesitated. She didn’t know Old Lady York personally, but she knew Serenity had visited and would no doubt have mentioned her. Instead of refusing outright, she shifted her tone.
“I really don’t have time right now. I just got back from a business trip, and I’ll be tied up for a while. Maybe after summer vacation, or during the National Day holiday, I can go with you to meet your parents.”
Both their companies had a short break for the National Day holiday. Normally, Romina spent those days at family gatherings or traveling alone. This year, she wanted to go to Wildridge Manor with River.
River smiled. “Alright, then National Day it is. But during that holiday, you’ll only see a few of the kids. Right now, since it’s summer vacation, the whole family’s together—my brothers, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces. After summer vacation, you’d have to wait until New Year to see everyone again.”
Romina thought about it and finally nodded. “Next week then. I’ll carve out a few days and go with you. I’m curious about your family.”
River teased, “The one you should be curious about is me.”
