Serenity invited the couple to sit. Mrs. Lafayette, cradling Belle, walked over to join the old Mrs. York and settled down beside her. She couldn’t help but beam. “Old lady, we’re truly sorry to impose like this. But this child… she’s just too adorable.”
Mr. Lafayette also offered his greetings.
“You honor us with your visit,” the old Mrs. York replied kindly. “If I’d known you were in Wiltspoon, I would’ve sent someone to invite you here myself.”
