Maddox smiled. “Mr. York, if you like Romina, just say so. Why keep dancing around it?”
“I’m done dancing around,” River said, holding up the flowers and gifts he’d brought. “We’re in progress, Mr. Johnstone—I just don’t know when to invite you to the wedding.”
Maddox clapped him on the shoulder. “I’ll look forward to it. But you two are famous for being at each other’s throats, and the problems between you aren’t small. Tell you what—how about selling all your shares in Yantail to me?”
River shot back instantly, “Why don’t you sell me your company instead? I can afford it.”
Maddox laughed. “Just kidding. I believe you’ll figure things out. Come on—let’s go in together.”
He stepped inside first, and River followed. “Mr. Johnstone, are we competing for her fairly?”
Maddox glanced over and admitted, “I’m no match for you, Mr. York. I’m too tactful to get into that fight. I didn’t come here just to see Romina anyway—I came to see Donovan.”
