After doting on Livia, Mrs. Lewis turned her attention to Sonny.
He blushed under the praise, scratching his head and murmuring, “Grandma, stop it… I’m really not that great.”
Liberty chuckled. “Mom, please stop complimenting him! Keep it up and he’ll start thinking he’s king of the world.”
Mrs. Lewis laughed. “But he really is that good! And if he’s proud, it’s because he earned it. Not everyone gets this kind of praise.”
Liberty just smiled helplessly.
That’s when Duncan walked in, lugging several large bags. “Mom, if you’re handing out compliments, shouldn’t I get the most? I’m the reason you have such a great daughter-in-law like Liberty, a smart grandson like Sonny, and a cute granddaughter like Livia! And yet, here I am, hauling everything in by myself while you ran off with them without even saying hi!”
He dropped the bags onto the coffee table and sofa—there was barely any space left.
