Chapter 4673
Serenity stepped outside and caught sight of her husband teasing their daughter. She walked over and whispered, “You woke her up. She was crying, and you had to soothe her.”
“I was really gentle—I wouldn’t have woken her up,” Zachary said, sitting up straight. Then, turning to his wife with a smile, he added, “Honey, our Belle is getting more and more beautiful every day. Honestly, she’s even cuter than Ben’s daughter Avah was at this age.”
Serenity replied, “All kids are adorable when they’re little. When Avah was Belle’s age, you couldn’t stop staring at her. You even wanted to bring her home and raise her yourself. Now that you have your own daughter, suddenly Avah wasn’t that cute? Typical. Your own kid always seems the cutest.”
Zachary chuckled but soon grew serious. “Still, I envy Ben. His two kids are so well-behaved and do great in school. Avah already has that responsible big sister vibe. I just hope our Belle will do well in school too. Wouldn’t it be great if she’s just as sensible—so we don’t have to worry all the time, and she can help take care of her younger brothers?”
Serenity reassured him. “You were a top student, and I wasn’t bad either. Our child has strong genes—her IQ is definitely high. I’m not worried about her grades. Honestly, I think her intelligence might even surpass yours.”
Zachary smirked. “The student surpassing the teacher—that’s how it should be. She’ll need to be even better than me to one day manage the York family business. But you know, sometimes even two top-performing parents end up with kids who struggle in school. Some couples have a few brilliant children, and then the youngest totally tanks.”
