Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 40 by desirenovel – Rain POV– Ending (it‘s over. Finally.) Kayden told me what happened yesterday. Abraham is dead and it‘s over. I don‘t ever want to think of him again. All I have in front of me now is my family. That‘s all I want in my life. I get Layla ready for her little party today. It‘s just family and friends but in a few days, there will be a bigger party for the pack members to meet her and other ally packs are invited as well.  “Look how cute she looks.” I say to Kayden. He smiles. “Just like a little princess.” We didn‘t have any clothes for girls so last night, Kayden asked one of the pack members that recently had a girl pup for some clothing. Of course, he had to tell her the reason but she promised to keep it a secret. Layla has a cute pink dress with a tutu and a flowery headband. We are both in love with her. “I can‘t wait to see everyone‘s faces when they see her.” I say laughing. A knock sounds on the door.  “That‘s probably Avery trying to have a peek again.” Kayden says. “Ok, let‘s put her in her car seat and cover her so she can‘t see her yet.” I say. When Kayden opens the door, Avery quickly peaks into the room.  “Oh come on. I just want to see him, what‘s the big deal?” Avery whines. I smile. “You‘ll see HIM with everyone else.”  “Fine, fine. Everyone is waiting.” She says pouting. Kayden carries the car seat with Layla sleeping inside and then we head downstairs.  When we get there, everyone is already there. Kayden‘s parents are here too. Kayden had asked me first if it was ok with me for them to be here and I said yes. It‘s their granddaughter and they should see her.  Everyone looks at us in anticipation. We set the car seat on the floor and greet everyone. “Ok come on come on, let me see the little lady killer.” Avery says.  I look at Kayden and nod giving him a smile. He lifts the cover from her and she is in full view. There is silence in the room and I just want to laugh, I can see Kayden also holding a laugh. “Um… why is he wearing… that?” Preston asks. “Why? You don‘t like it?” Kayden asks. “Well, he looks like a girl.” Kayden‘s mother says. I smile and nod. “Yea, that‘s the idea.” They all look at us confused and Kayden and I start laughing. “Why would you do that to the poor kid?” Preston asks. I continue to laugh but Kayden stops enough time to be able to talk. “Everyone, meet Layla.” Kayden says. “What?” Levi asks. Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 39 by desirenovel –Kayden‘s POV  “It‘s confirmed, he‘s in there.” Grant says. “But there are also rogues, so we might have to fight our way in.” I look into the distance at the old crumbled bunker deep in the mountain. “So be it, we go fast, and even though I want to kill Abraham myself, if any of you have a shot, take it. He can‘t leave here alive.”  They all nod. I brought half of the pack with me. I am not taking any chances. I have Grant and Violet with me and left Preston with Rain. “How many entrances are there?” I ask.  “This is the only working one. The others we found were caved in.” Grant says.  I nod. I look to the side where my father has one of the rogue‘s scouts tied up. My father insisted on coming. “I would love to wait for the cover of darkness but, they will get suspicious when their scout doesn‘t come back. I want half of you in wolf form. Let‘s go!” I give the signal and we all start to rush in with me leading. We get to the door and immediately kill the guards, then we go in. There‘s a narrow flight of stairs going down. We run in and kill everyone that gets in the way. We continue and because of all the noise, rogues start coming out of rooms. We start fighting but I keep pushing forward killing anyone who gets in my way. My only target is Abraham.  I continue and I can see the last room. The door opens and Jocelyn comes out. “Please! Please don‘t kill him.” She says pleading. She kneels in front of me with tears in her eyes but  Thave no compassion for her whatsoever.  “Move.” I give a low warning tone.  She shakes her head still crying. “You and your daughter are banished from the pack, if you want to keep living, I suggest you move.” || say again.  “Jocelyn, you know what he did. I know you do.” My father says walking towards us. “I should have taken care of him that night but… I was weak.” He whispers the last part looking down.  She crumbles to the ground feeling hopeless as I move around her. I open the door and cautiously enter the room. I look around and see an old bed, the room is lowly lit but I can make out that there‘s no one in here. I look to the side and see an opening where a tunnel starts.  “Motherfucker!” I run down the tunnel. I keep running but the tunnel opens to the forest. I smell the air and catch his scent so I run after it. (I am NOT letting him get away.) Trun as fast as I can, his scent grows stronger letting me know that I am catching up to him. I finally see a glimpse of him and I run even faster now. When I am close enough, i lunge into him. We both roll on the ground. He slashes into me and the fucker gets me but he is still in human form so it doesn‘t do much. We circle each other. He knows he can‘t win against me. (So what is his plan? If this whole thing has shown me anything, it is that he‘s not an idiot.) He gives a quick glance to the side and my instinct kicks in, I immediately dodge out of the way of two  The three of them attack me at the same time. I quickly punch Abraham sending him oft flying and out of the way. I grab the rogue that‘s on my back and throw him against a tree. I hear his bones breaking and he dies instantly. The other one bites me on the side ribs, I take him by the neck and easily break it. Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 38 by desirenovel –Kayden POV (Oh f**k! What do I do? Why am I panicking now of all the times?) She‘s looking at me and she looks scared. I take a deep breath and take my phone out. I call the doctor and tell her that we are on our way. We start walking to the pack hospital and on the way, I call Grant and let him know what‘s going on. We get to the pack hospital and they immediately take us to a room where Rain gets comfortable. The doctor immediately walks in and she looks at both of us. “So, the big day is finally here. How happy are you both?” She asks. Rain and I look at each other not feeling the excitement at all. I am terrified. This whole time I had tried not to think about this moment because honestly, I‘m afraid of losing Rain and the baby. So many things can go wrong. The doctor chuckles. “Ok, let‘s check you.” She says to Rain. I sit on a chair and wait. “Ok, so you are just starting and there is no dilation yet, so I suggest you both get comfortable cause most of the time, this takes longer.” She says. “I‘ll come by in an hour and check on you again.” She then leaves the room. “Kayden I‘m scared.” Rain says. I walk to her and hug her on the bed. “I know baby, but I‘m here. I‘m not leaving your side.” She takes a deep breath and holds me tight. “Are you feeling any pain?” I ask her. “No, not yet.” After a few more minutes, Rain started to get hungry. I asked the doctor if she could eat and she said since she is in the early stages of labor, she can have non–solid foods like Jell–O and apple sauce, so I called Grant to bring some. Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 37 by desirenovel –Rain POV We left early morning to goddess knows where. Kayden says he wants to take me somewhere. It‘s a surprise but I am not feeling up to it. I only have now one more week to be full–term and most of the time am in a bad mood, tired, hungry, or all of the above. I have to constantly pee and my feet get swollen easily. I feel like a cow and wobble like a penguin when I walk. I want this kid out already. I even got my hair cut to my shoulders, like a long wavy bob, just because I got angry at it for getting in the way. And we both finally agreed on the name Holden for the baby. It took us eight months to agree on it. I think we both just got tired of trying to choose something that would fit. Right now, I am trying to sleep in the car but having a hard time because the seat belt bothers me, it digs into my stomach.  “How much longer Kayden?“| ask.  “Just one more hour.” He says. (That is a horror to my ears.) “Will there be food?” I ask. He chuckles. “Yes, plenty of it.” “Oh, carp! Stop the car.” I say feeling a sharp pain in my bladder. “I have to pee!”  “Little Holden kicked your bladder again?” Kayden asks as he stops the car. The good thing is that the road we are taking is in a wooden area. “Yea.” I say opening the door and running into the woods. I hear him laughing the whole time. (I should have worn a grownup diaper.) The urge to pee is great but all that comes out are a few drops. I sigh. T head back and we continue on our way.  “I am so tired of being pregnant Kayden.”I say feeling exhausted. “I know baby, just a week or two. Hang in there.” He says holding my hand. (He‘s been so good and supportive. Even when I act out or am mean to him, which by the way only started because of the pregnancy, even then he is still a sweetheart.)  After almost an hour, we make it to what looks like a resort near a beach. “Where are we?” I ask him. We start to walk to our room and like always, I see women giving flirty eyes to Kayden but now I am even angrier because I don‘t feel attractive at all. I sigh. “It‘s strange. I already feel so overprotective of this child. And I don‘t even have a baby bump yet.” The door opens and Kayden walks in.  “Is the celebration done?” I ask.  “Yea, most of them when for a run.” He says taking his shirt off. Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 34 by desirenovel –Rain POV  (Oh no) I manage to make it to the viewing stand and immediately sit and take deep breaths but that was the worst that I could do. The smell makes it worst, I feel like throwing up and I am starting to get a headache from the smell. I hide it as much as can because I don‘t want Kayden to worry. He‘s been looking forward to these games and I don‘t want to ruin it for him. The game starts, competitors are paired against each other randomly. When it‘s Violet‘s turn, she is paired with a huge guy but she easily takes him down. She‘s amazing. The other packs look surprised but everyone cheers for her. After a few other competitors, Kayden comes to me and kisses my cheek. “Watch me.” He says. He starts to take his shirt off and walks to the middle of the ring. “What the…–”I look at him confused. I look at Preston. “Is he competing?” Preston smiles. “Yea.” Igasp.  “Oh, s**t! Kayden is fighting!?” I hear Landon shout. “Dam!” Someone else shouts. “f**k no, why am I going against him?” The rival says to the announcer. “It‘s a random man.” The announcer says. “Are Alphas allowed to compete?” I ask Preston. “Yea, haven‘t you seen the other Alphas that already competed?” I smile awkwardly and nod. (I wasn‘t‘ paying much attention to be honest.) Giants lace changes, We all wail in anticipation, (Il can‘t be, can it?lle is strong, I‘m sure he‘s ok.) I can tell that Avery is really worried. Grant sighs looking at her. “The lucker tried to fly, literally. He flew out of a window from the second floor and not because he was thrown, but because, and I quote him, “it was laster.” He‘s in the pack hospital with a broken leg… dumbass.” We are all relieved that he is such an idiot. When finally, everyone is out of the room, we start to walk out but Grant stops and looks behind me. “I know, I know. I look like a chicken with her baby chicks.” I say knowing that the children are all still cuddled up to me and following me. He smiles. “Suits you. Aluna is the mother of the pack and those little ones are the future of our pack.” I smile. (I guess I do like the pack after all, at least the little ones.) I try to work this TV which is different from the one Kayden has. The kids start to laugh at me. Finally, I manage to put a movie for them and we all sit together around the couch and the floor. I watch them. I never imagined myself being in this position. I suddenly feel very overprotective of them. Like they are mine. I smile and feel happy that they are all ok and sale. About three weeks pass and throughout all of it, me and Kayden dealt with the aftermath of what the attack brought. Kayden found out that it was of course Abraham behind the attack. He took rogues prisoners from the attack and they were interrogated. But they didn‘t know where he was hiding. Kayden fortified the pack and changed protocols since Abraham knows them all. He made a lot of changes. Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 32 by desirenovel –Rain POV  I wake up abruptly when Kayden jumps out of the bed and runs to the window. “What is it?” I ask. “Rogues! Get up.” He says. Our door abruptly opens with Grant and Preston. “It‘s a full–on attack.” Grant says. “Preston, escort Rain to the bunker. Make sure she gets there safe.” Kayden says. I look at Kayden and feel sad. I don‘t want to part from him but I know he has a job to do. Kayden walks over to me and kisses me. “I love you, stay safe.” “Be careful, please. I can‘t lose you Kayden.” I say with tears falling down my cheeks. “I will.” He rushes out of the room and I already feel empty. Preston and I walk out of the room and the house is in chaos, everyone is running out of their rooms and trying to go down the stairs or to get to their loved ones.  I feel a tug on my clothes. “Luna, what do we do?” A small child‘s voice asks. I look behind me and there are all the small children that are orphans looking at me expectantly. I look around and everyone else just passes them by. My heartbreak looking at those big expectant eyes.  (They have no one to take care of them.) “You all follow me. We‘ll keep you safe.” I say and they all nod with big smiles. I want to be angry at everyone here for being so selfish but I can‘t. The last time we were attacked like this, I was four years old and I lived with my parents. So, people really don‘t know how to handle it. “Everyone that can‘t fight, get to the bunkers immediately!” Preston shouts for everyone to hear. “Preston!” Avery runs towards us with Levi.  “We need to get everyone to the bunker.” Preston says.  “Where is the bunker?” Avery asks.  “It‘s down at the basement.” I say. Levi nods. “Yea, past the holding cells.” “Let‘s go then.” We all follow Preston and I make sure that all the children are following us as well. We go down the stairs but it‘s slow because of all the people that are running around. Warriors rush out while their mates and children watch them go. When we pass by the front door, I get a glimpse of Kayden outside. He gives orders and is in complete command. We continue to walk through the halls to get to the basement door but we start to hear crashes. Rogues start to crash in through the windows and we all start to scatter in panic. I grab some of the children by their hand and start to run with the rest behind me but I completely lost Preston. I run in the direction to the basement and make it there. We run down the stairs and run to the end where the metal doors to the bunker are open with two warriors guarding it. I get the children in and start to run back but a hand holds mine, I look back and see one of the kids holding me. I crouch down to his level and hug him. “I‘ll be back, I have to find the others.” I say. “I promise I‘ll be back.” “I‘ll watch over them.” Madalyn, Kayden‘s mom says and I nod. I let him go and walk back up the stairs. When I get to the top of the stairs, people are running and screaming. Our warriors fight the rogues inside and out of the house, it‘s complete chaos.  I run around looking for Avery, Levi, and Preston. Imaneuver myself dodging people as they try to get to the bunker. I make it to the main stairs in the entrance where there are very few people left now and see Avery walking back cautiously as a rogue approaches her as if she was prey.  I don‘t know what to do but my instinct wants me to run over to her and shield her. And I do just that, run and put my arms around her waiting for the rogue to pounce on me but it never does. We hear two wolves fighting and when I look towards them, I see a brown hair wolf fighting the rogue. “Wait… that‘s Levi!” I say recognizing him. Avery and I watch surprised and feeling scared for him. He is not a warrior so he might get badly injured. Surprisingly Levi keeps up with the rogue but then the rogue takes a jab at his side and Levi falls in pain. Avery and I think the same thing, we look at each other and then run ready to tackle the rogue away from Levi but suddenly an almost silver–looking wolf gets to the rogue first and takes care of it effortlessly. “Preston!” Avery shouts. We run over to Levi as he shifts back. I am surprised to see him naked but what surprises me the most is all the muscles he was hiding behind the long sleeve shirts he always uses. Those shirts make him look skinny and although he is on the skinny side compare to the warriors, he has a nice body. I look at Avery who obviously thinks the same thing since her face is a tomato now.  I look at Levi‘s wound but it‘s not that bad. “Can you walk?” I ask him. “Yea, I’m fine.” He says getting up and putting his hands over his crotch trying to cover his dangling buddy. I want to laugh but I know that it‘s not the time for that. Broken Mate by Norisha May Chapter 31 by desirenovel Chapter Thirty On “Great… home sweet home.” Rain says sarcastically as I park the car in front of the packhouse. I sigh. Rain and I walk through the packhouse doors and the first thing I see is Grant with a not–so–happy expression.  “Love, go rest I know you‘re tired. I‘ll be by later.” I say to Rain. She smiles. “Alright but don‘t take too long. I‘ll miss you too much.” (I love it. She‘s so different from before.) Inod and kiss her. Once She‘s up the stairs I turn to Grant. “What happened?” I ask. He sighs. “Abraham and Jocelyn never came back. He disconnected his phone…they both did.” “Mother fucker! Call my father to the office.” I walk in and can‘t help be surprised at how clean and neat the office looks. Everything is fixed. (Seriously, Grant deserves a raise.) A few minutes later my father walks in with Grant behind him.
