After leaving the ruins of the Wiebe family, Kennedy did not flee far.
She brought Qyla to a secluded cave deep in a desolate mountain range outside Oakvale. After setting up a simple concealment formation, she finally sat down to plan her next move.
“Fairxy is vindictive,” Kennedy said quietly, sitting cross-legged, cold light flickering in her eyes. “That massacre must have given her some twisted satisfaction. But she won’t stop there.”
Qyla lay beside her knees, lifting her head and letting out a soft cry.
Kennedy reached out and gently patted her head. “You think so too, don’t you? Hiding won’t solve anything. And besides…”
The image of the charred ruins surfaced again in her mind.
