Corbin pursed his lips. “Excuses.”
He leaned back and ignored Milo.
After about half an hour, he rubbed his stomach and said to Belle, “Sis, I’m hungry. Is there anything to eat in the car?”
“There’s nothing here,” Belle replied. “I didn’t bring snacks. It’s still a while before dinner—why are you hungry already?”
Milo said, “He’s at that age—growing fast, eating a lot. Totally normal. Haven’t you heard the saying, ‘a teenage boy can eat his parents out of house and home’? We’ve all been through it.”
During his own teenage years, Milo had eaten constantly and exercised a lot, growing quickly. His family never lacked food, but his appetite had still shocked them—they used to joke he looked like a starving ghost reincarnated.
The family chef, knowing his appetite, would always prepare extra meals and snacks so he could eat as soon as he got home.
