Jane’s interest was instantly piqued.
“What gossip? Tell me quickly! I’m totally free right now—you could talk for an hour if you want.”
Iris laughed. “My son wants to learn how to knit sweaters.”
Jane sounded confused. “What does he want to learn that for? Even the two of us couldn’t manage that kind of craft.”
She added, “Besides, hardly anyone knits around here anymore. It’s only cold for maybe ten days out of the whole year. You can survive just by putting on an extra layer. Though I suppose a hand-knitted sweater is warmer.”
“It’s all because of Titus,” Iris explained. “He said he wants to knit a sweater for Jennifer himself. They’re in Havenmill, and it gets extremely cold there after autumn. Every winter it snows heavily—it’s freezing.”
She continued with a chuckle, “For a young couple, knitting a sweater like that is pretty romantic. Well, our Avah happened to mention that she felt a little envious.”
