Sonny looked at her with complete sincerity. “Miss Winnie, I don’t lie. I only speak the truth.”
Winnie simply smiled, still convinced he was being polite because she was a guest.
“I promised your aunt I’d wear this dress for her today,” she said. “She really does have excellent taste.”
“That she does,” Sonny agreed. Then he turned to Chairman Francoeur. “Chairman Francoeur, did you sleep well last night?”
He led the grandfather and granddaughter toward the elevator.
Although they could have had breakfast delivered to the presidential suite, Sonny never made exceptions. Whenever he stayed at the hotel, he always went downstairs for breakfast.
He believed food tasted better in a lively atmosphere, surrounded by people.
