Belle felt sorry for Maverick. Once their parents retired, the company’s responsibilities would fall entirely on his shoulders.
Even now, though their father was semi-retired, he still handled half the workload, easing Maverick’s burden.
“Your brother is already very familiar with the business,” Zachary said. “Everyone trusts him. Milo is helping him too. You don’t need to pity your brother. He’s more capable than I was at his age. I took over the family business when I was about as old as him.”
His voice was filled with pride.
Milo didn’t work for his own family’s company; he worked at York Corporation. He and Maverick had grown up together—childhood friends and sworn brothers.
Milo helped Maverick for two reasons: their brotherly bond, and the fact that he considered Maverick his future brother-in-law. He planned to cling tightly to that relationship.
Maverick was unhappy about Milo taking his only sister, but looking across Wiltspoon City, Milo was the only one worthy of Belle.
