Caleb muttered under his breath, “I’ve been practicing martial arts since I was four—over ten years now. Isn’t that enough? Dad is obviously biased. The moment Belle arrived, he only has eyes for her, not for me, his own son.”
Tatum turned and shot his son a sharp look. “After dinner, go back to the company. I gave you the day off so you could pick Belle up from the airport.”
Caleb protested, “Dad, since you already gave me the day off, let me take the whole day. I haven’t chatted with Belle in ages. Besides, I’m still a low-level employee—it won’t matter if I miss one day.”
Caleb was only eighteen months older than Belle. Belle was twenty-two this year, while he was not yet twenty-four. Among his brothers, he ranked fifth, only three years younger than the eldest, Maverick.
Although Caleb was still studying, he had already started working. Tatum believed that York family children could officially step into the business world after turning twenty.
When Caleb’s great-grandmother was still alive, she often accompanied Tatum and the other elders to business events, deliberately bringing the younger generation along. It was a way of letting everyone know that the York family’s young masters were beginning to enter the business arena.
After Caleb turned twenty, his parents attended more business banquets, deliberately giving him exposure and experience.
