If Aitana could personally witness her happiness with Joaquin—and bring Alex with her—it would completely put Joaquin’s lingering feelings to rest and allow him to live peacefully with Yehua from then on.
Aitana understood Yehua’s thoughts perfectly. She replied calmly, “You didn’t invite Alex, so why would he go? If I’m not free, I’ll ask my second uncle to attend instead.”
Her second uncle would likely be able to go.
Joaquin had studied under Second Uncle Pollock for two years. Although Mrs. Legare’s actions had angered him back then, Aitana didn’t hold a grudge, and her second uncle wouldn’t either. If the invitation were extended to him, he would most likely attend.
Yehua smiled awkwardly. “We’re not familiar with Mr. York, and we wouldn’t dare send him an invitation.”
Even if they did, Alex probably wouldn’t accept it.
