Mr. Legare continued, “If word gets out, Aitana’s reputation will be ruined—and Joaquin won’t escape unscathed either. People will say Joaquin is ungrateful, has poor character, and lacks medical ethics. That will directly affect his clinic.”
“You… you’re trying to ruin our son,” Mrs. Legare stammered, at a loss for words.
Joaquin looked at his mother with disappointment and said painfully, “Now I finally understand where I fall short compared to the York family’s young master.”
“The York family is incredibly wealthy, yet Alex’s parents never looked down on Aitana. They treated her extremely well. When she went to the York family, they didn’t discriminate against her—they treated her like family.”
“But what did my mother do? I drank once, and under the excuse of feeling sorry for me, you went and made trouble for Aitana. It wasn’t her fault, yet you blamed her and even told her to move out.”
“I have such an unreasonable mother—who would dare marry me? No woman with any sense would.”
“You vented your anger, Mom—but you destroyed me. Are you jealous that Aitana is favored by the York family’s young master?”
