Chapter 4933
Alex grinned. “Grandma, that won’t be hard to overcome. You always said as long as the girl has a clean family background and good character, that’s what really matters.”
The old lady smiled warmly. “Exactly. Our family already has more than enough wealth. We don’t need political matches or arranged marriages. As long as you truly like each other, that’s what counts. And I trust your judgment. A grandson raised by me can’t possibly choose wrong.”
Her eyes softened, the years showing in their depth. “Alex, I’m getting old. These days, it feels like I’m racing against time itself. One day I wake up and think—if I have one more day, I’ll live it fully. My biggest wish now is to see all nine of you married and settled down.”
She sighed, her voice trembling slightly. “What your grandpa didn’t live to see, I’ll see for him. If I go to meet him one day and haven’t seen that, I’ll feel I’ve failed him.”
Alex slipped his arm gently around her shoulders. “Grandma, Grandpa would want you to see all of us start our own families. You’ve already honored him more than enough. He’d never blame you—he’d blame himself for leaving you and us so soon.”
The old lady’s expression turned wistful, the mention of her late husband stirring old sorrow.
