The money had been lent by her uncle, not Briana. Over the years, she had helped Briana’s family plenty — giving them money and assistance whenever they needed it.

When she heard Mrs. Gaudreault say she’d never help her again, all of Briana’s arrogance instantly disappeared.
She quickly tried to smooth things over. “Sister, I was impulsive just now. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have said that to you. We’re family, aren’t we? We may not be biological sisters, but we share the same grandparents — our bond is deep. Even if bones break, the tendons still connect them. You can’t just ignore me.”
Briana sat down beside her and clung to her arm affectionately.
