Aitana added, “Master Tangy will tell you what materials are needed and how much. All you have to do is buy them.”
Alex looked genuinely grateful. “I’ve been recovering from my injuries, so I’d like to take this time to do some renovations. It feels so much more meaningful to decorate your own little home.”
The two returned to the hospital together.
Aitana rode her electric scooter out of the parking lot before letting Alex climb on. The lot was crowded and difficult to maneuver.
Sitting on the back of the scooter, Alex asked nervously, “Dr. Pollock, I’m pretty big. Are you sure you can handle my weight?”
“You’re about the same size as my brother,” Aitana replied calmly. “If I can carry him, I can carry you. As long as you’re not embarrassed, it’s fine.”
Alex grinned. “Why would I be embarrassed? No one knows who I am, and I’m not wearing a sign saying ‘I’m the Eighth Young Master of the York Family.’ Besides, riding an electric scooter isn’t shameful. A vehicle’s just a way to get from one place to another. As long as we obey traffic rules, it’s all the same.”
Aitana nodded in agreement. She also thought of a car as nothing more than transportation and had no high demands for it—only that it worked.
