“They offer full packages,” Aitana explained, “but they’ll quote you top-dollar materials and then sneak in low-quality ones to make a profit.”
She added, “I bought only high-quality, eco-friendly materials. The workers I hired are excellent. People line up to get them. Since they’re from the countryside, though, you have to arrange housing. Commuting every day eats into their time and costs them fuel.
“When I renovated my place, I rented an old apartment nearby for them to stay in. It wasn’t expensive per month, and they moved out once the job was done.”
Alex nodded. “I’m also planning to buy my own materials and hire my own crew. Dr. Pollock, if your decorators are that good, could you recommend them to me? I’ll handle their housing and wages—no problem.”
He could have easily used the York family’s construction teams or left it all to his butler. But Alex wanted an excuse to talk to Aitana more.
If he didn’t understand something, he could ask her. When she was off work, maybe she’d go with him to pick out materials. It was a perfect way to spend time together, get closer, and eventually tell her how he felt. He had no doubt he’d win her heart.
Aitana tilted her head. “Isn’t this your first time buying a place? Didn’t you hire companies before? Don’t you know any decorators? Wealthy young men like you shouldn’t have to deal with this yourself.”
