Alex told the Pollock family that he had mainly come to express his gratitude. Speaking directly to Aitana, he explained that he had been in the area to buy a house and, knowing this was her home, decided to stop by to thank her for taking care of him at the hospital.
The entire Pollock family turned to look at Alex.
Carlos, sitting beside Aitana, suspected Alex had feelings for his sister.
Aitana, on the other hand, didn’t dwell on it. She was more curious about why Alex had chosen to buy a house here—especially since there weren’t any villas nearby. With his background, she assumed he would prefer a villa.
“Mr. York, are you here to look at houses?” Aitana asked, tilting her head in curiosity as she sat down next to Carlos. “Where exactly are you looking? Are you planning to buy something nearby?”
“I saw a large flat in Wordisk Garden,” Alex replied. “I’ve already paid the deposit. Once the paperwork’s complete, I’ll pay the balance.”
“Wordisk Garden? Oh, that’s nice,” Aitana said. “We have a house there too, but we usually live here.”
Her parents had bought her a house of more than 100 square meters in Wordisk Garden and paid for it in full. It had been renovated but still needed time to air out. Her parents called it her dowry—a place of her own—and reminded her repeatedly not to sell it after marriage. It was her escape plan.
