Married At First Sight Chapter 4717 – Romina asked curiously, “I’ve been to Meadspring several times and even visited the Lafayette family estate, but I never met the head of the family himself. I only saw his wife. She’s stunning—so beautiful that even as a woman, I couldn’t help but admire her.”
Sariyah was already in her thirties—nearly forty if you rounded up—but she carried herself like a woman in her early twenties. Time had been generous to her, or perhaps it was meticulous care that made her look so youthful.
River replied, “I haven’t personally met the Lafayette family’s head or his wife, but I know plenty about them. My brother Zachary and sister-in-law Serenity are very close to Brother Ben and Sister Jane. In fact, that couple is staying at our Wildridge Manor right now with their children.”
He went on, “Jane and Johnathan Lafayette—the head of the family—are twins. Jane and Brother Ben also had a flash marriage. Their love story is a lot like my brother Zachary ’s and Sister-in-law Serenity’s. Back when Zachary and Serenity hit a rough patch, he confided in Brother Ben about concealing his identity.”
“Our families have business ties as well,” River continued. “Brother Ben’s younger brother, Remy, is especially close to the Yorks. He married Sister-in-law Serenity’s cousin, Elisa. So, in a way, our families are related—distant, but still connected.”
Whenever Zachary and Serenity saw Remy, they had to address him as brother-in-law.
River’s voice softened. “The head’s wife truly is a beauty. She’s also the disciple of a hermit master and often works alongside Dr. Lilian Carden—the Johnson family’s fourth daughter-in-law and the miraculous doctor’s only apprentice.”
“My second sister-in-law, Camryn, owes her eyesight to Dr. Carden,” he explained. “Dr. Carden visits our home often, sometimes staying for several days. At first, she treated Camryn, but now she mainly cares for my grandmother, prescribing her medicine and keeping her in good health. She’s even said my grandmother could live to a hundred under her care. Our entire family respects her deeply.”
“The miraculous doctor himself is fully retired now. Few can persuade him to treat anyone, so most turn to Dr. Carden instead. She only agreed to care for my grandmother because of the late Grandpa Jimenez’s reputation and Sister Jane’s friendship with Sister-in-law Serenity.”
“When my second brother Callum first sought her out to treat Sister-in-law Camryn’s eyes, she refused him several times. At the time, Dr. Carden was still in confinement after childbirth. But Brother Callum’s persistence and devotion moved her. Eventually, she agreed to treat Sister-in-law Camryn. After confinement, she flew to Wiltspoon to perform the treatment and help with Sister-in-law Camryn’s recovery. That’s why they were able to have Cairo.”
River smiled faintly. “Dr. Carden once warned that if Sister-in-law Camryn didn’t take care of herself, she might never conceive. It took years of careful recovery before Cairo was finally born. That’s why Brother Callum and Sister-in-law Camryn married early, but their son is still only three years old.”
Romina was quiet for a moment, then smiled. “It seems like in high society, everyone knows each other. Even if they don’t meet often, they’re connected one way or another.”
The circle was neither small nor large. Some crossed paths daily. Others went decades without meeting, yet still heard of each other’s stories.
“Take my car after the reunion,” River said gently. “I’ll drive you home.”
Romina didn’t refuse.
His car was a sleek Maybach. She usually drove a BMW—practical, understated. Next to his luxury car, hers seemed almost modest.
As they settled inside, Romina suddenly laughed. “When you first bought this Maybach, I teased you for being a nouveau riche. You’d just made some money and immediately splurged on such a car.”
