She had even brought her husband tonight. He was a seasoned professional looking to switch jobs, and if she could make peace with Romina—and help him land a position at the Lafayette Group—their financial worries would be over. A steady job for him would mean a stable future, no more sleepless nights over mortgage payments.
Most of the classmates urging the monitor to organize this reunion had the same goal: to reconnect with Romina and, by extension, River, who held significant influence.
After graduation, many had done well for themselves—some as corporate professionals, others as small business owners—but even years of hard work couldn’t compare to Romina’s inherited advantages. Having a wealthy, supportive family was an entirely different starting line.
