Romina added, “I want to show them that it’s not that I can’t get married—it’s that I was waiting for the best man to come along.”
Donovan chuckled. “You’ve never cared about what people say. You rarely even went to class gatherings before. What’s gotten into you? If you want to show off, just say so. But you two aren’t officially together yet—it’s still just gossip. He’s been openly chasing you, but you haven’t exactly said yes.”
“Aren’t we basically a couple now?” Romina countered. “We were sworn enemies before, but now we’re… something else. I just need time to adjust to the shift.”
She gave a small smile. “And I haven’t been rejecting him, have I?”
Donovan grinned. “True. We all hope you two tie the knot soon. But I’ll admit, I never imagined you’d end up like this with him. You used to glare at each other like angry roosters. I don’t even dislike River as much as you used to.”
Romina closed her folder. “I didn’t expect it either. No wonder none of Grandpa’s blind dates worked out—I’ve clearly had River in my heart for a while now.”
“Guess it’s true what they say,” Donovan mused. “Enemies are bound to meet again. At least now, if River becomes my brother-in-law, I won’t have to worry about Yantail setting any traps for Lafayette Group.”
